I honestly believe the button presses don't always go through, as I fare somewhat better in Abandon Ship and Skateboard Scamper. Now, I may just suck, but whenever I get this minigame on the boards, I get dead last by a very wide margin. In Mecha Marathon, however, you must mash both A and B simultaneously for 10 seconds. In Mario Party 7, for example, one of the few button mashing games, Pokey Pummel, lasts 6 seconds and only requires you to mash one button. #7 Worst - MECHA MARATHON - While I love the N64 Mario Parties, their main fault is with the way they handle button-mashing games. It's just really unbalanced and is not fun to play at all. I died on this minigame upwards of 50 times on Minigame Coaster before finally beating it. The problem is that it's way too easy for the team of 3 to change direction at literally the last possible moment, making victory as the solo player almost impossible. This game sounds standard, but it's possible to change the direction you're looking several times during the small window of time after the little jingle between each round ends. In this minigame, the solo player looks in a direction, and the three players try to avoid looking in that same direction or they will lose. #8 Worst - LOOK AWAY - Now, people may think this game is so low solely because of the premise, but that's not the case. It's just a boring and kind of broken minigame that should have been forgotten with the first Mario Party game. Usually I get enough mushrooms to become a huge target 15 seconds in and spend half the minigame running away. The main change is that this minigame involves grabbing mushrooms out of the other contestants' bags instead of their entire collection of coins. While I must say that Mario Party 2 improves a lot on Grab Bag, it's still not fun at all and lasts way too long. #9 Worst - GRAB BAG - Another remake from the first Mario Party that really didn't need to be included. Overall, MP2 would be better without this game. Not to mention difficult with a human teammate and very easy with a CPU teammate. In Dungeon Dash, two teams of two race to the end of a straight hallway.
And, while Rainbow Run is far from the best minigame, it's far better than this awful mess. #10 Worst - DUNGEON DASH - There are two secret minigames (excluding Driver's Ed) in Mario Party 2, and both are equally disappointing remakes of disappointing minigames from the original Mario Party. I always get third or fourth every single time. Also, I have quite literally never won (or gotten second) in this game before. this one is worse than BOWSER's Big Blast because of one bad experience where 167 coins were on the line. This game always ends up being a very boring draw.ĭM #2: Roll Call - Can you count to 25? Congratulations, you won this minigame.ĭM #3: Day at the Races - Luck minigame. It's way too difficult to attack anyone because it's so easy to run away, and following the person running is a surefire way to lose. This game's controls are far from good and this minigame usually comes down to one person running from the other. Let's start with the Dishonorable Mentions!ĭM #1: Lava Tile Isle - this minigame is technically #11 on the worst list for those who are wondering. This particular journal will only focus on the worst games, too. The Item games, Duel games, and the secret Drivers' Ed game were not considered for either the best or the worst. 2, and Battle minigames will be included in this. One other thing to note - only 4-Player, 1 Vs. Since ranking every single minigame proved way too taxing with MP3 and because I lacked any real strong feelings for games in the middle of the list, I decided instead just to talk about my 10 favorite and 10 least favorite minigames for MP2.
